Challenge
To win in today’s competitive hiring market, companies are pouring more resources into cutting edge technology to separate themselves from competition. Associate Vice President of Talent Brand and Employee Engagement at RingCentral, Stephen Stewart, was tasked with finding a way to enhance RingCentral’s brand reputation, and objectively tell their brand story with the goal of attracting, hiring, and retaining top tier talent.
“Every company is looking for the opportunity to enhance their brand reputation and RingCentral is no different in that regard. Maintaining a strong brand presence is a top priority to continue to attract high caliber candidates. Ultimately, this initiative led us to Comparably,” explained Stewart.
In order for RingCentral to effectively reach their goals in creating a trustworthy brand reputation, the company needed a way to gather feedback from their employees in a simple-to-use and authentic manner. This feedback would allow for more opportunity to create recruitment marketing collateral and become eligible to win Comparably awards, which would overall help them hire top tier talent.
“The talent market continues to be extremely competitive, especially for in-demand skills and experience. Comparably is a valuable partner in boosting our brand awareness through their Best Place to Work awards and sophisticated marketing tools. Our partnership with Comparably allows us to stay a step ahead of the competition – at least most of the time!”

Solution
RingCentral found Comparably, a comprehensive tool that collects current employees’ sentiment from surveys and uses the results to tell a complete story of what it is like to work for a company.
“Comparably has helped us tell our brand story by allowing us to capture real time employee feedback. Our current employees fill out short snippets based on questions Comparably generates, and then Comparably presents the real and unfiltered third party results in a simple way,” said Stewart.
RingCentral’s Talent and Recruitment Marketing team began utilizing the Comparably Best Place to Work awards for their internal and external recruitment marketing efforts. The Best Place to Work Awards are shared across major publications to recognize the top performing company culture, leadership, and teams based on real feedback from current employees.
“The Comparably Best Place to Work awards are extremely valuable to us. We showcase the awards in our offices and include them in our quarterly earnings call to tell our well rounded brand story. These awards have allowed us to show our audience that we are well regarded, especially since the feedback to win the awards comes from our current employees,” explained Stewart.
Ensuring RingCentral’s online employer brand presence was up to par was essential when visiting college campuses to recruit young talent. The Comparably Best Place to Work awards helped with that, but what really attracted the new talent came from Comparably’s employer branding content.
“Using Comparably’s employer branding tools, we were able to pull quotes from the employee surveys and use them on our employer branded content for college campuses and on our career site. Since we started using employee quotes from Comparably, we have expanded the number of interns we bring on by 2x,” explained Stewart.
The Results
Since implementing Comparably, RingCentral has seen success in telling their brand story objectively through the voice of their employees. RingCentral leverages Comparably’s overall rating score and eNPS scores to see how they are performing compared to their competitors.
“We utilize the overall rating score and eNPS score in Comparably to ensure we are performing to the best of our abilities according to our current employees,” said Stewart.
RingCentral values Comparably’s Best Place to Work awards as they bring significant awareness and recognition to the winners. Since the company has won multiple awards, RingCentral has seen a large increase in their earned media impressions.
“We have a number of metrics that we pay a lot of attention to – brand impressions and earned media impressions are two of the most important from a top of the funnel perspective. We would see high impressions each quarter, and a major contributor is the earned media exposure that we were getting every quarter from the Comparably awards. Depending on the quarter we’d get 4-6 million impressions,” explained Stewart.
When RingCentral has candidates who are in the hiring process, they leverage Comparably’s recruitment marketing and career page features. They place awards and employee feedback directly into collateral and onto job postings to showcase their brand story, ensuring their employer branding efforts don’t stop as candidates interview.
Stewart concludes, “The talent market continues to be extremely competitive, especially for in-demand skills and experience. Comparably is a valuable partner in boosting our brand awareness through their BPTW awards and sophisticated marketing tools. Our partnership with Comparably allows us to stay a step ahead of the competition – at least most of the time!”
