The Syracuse EMS is the only fire department based ambulance service in Kosciusko County where all EMS personnel with the exception of 2 observers are also Syracuse Fire Department firefighters. The Syracuse Fire Department is the only fire department in Kosciusko County that has it's own dispatch center that is manned 24 hours a day, 365 days a ye... ar. The Syracuse EMS is currently sponsored by Kosciusko Community Hospital . Kosciusko Community Hospital provides pre-hospital protocols and medical direction to the Syracuse EMS . The Syracuse EMS will transport a patient to the hospital that the patient wishes to be transported to upon arrival at the emergency scene, dependant upon patient condition. The current officers of the Syracuse EMS are: Mickey Scott, SFD Fire Chief and CEO of EMS Bob Tinkey, EMS Captain Derek Patterson, EMS Lieutenant Dr. David Hartman, Medical Director Carla Gebert, Kosciusko Community Hospital EMS Coordinator As of June 1, 2005, there are currently 23 people on the Syracuse EMS . There are presently 6 National Registry Certified Paramedics, 5 Indiana State Certified EMT-Basic-Advanced Technicians, 6 Indiana State Certified Basic Life Support Emergency Medical Technicians, 2 Indiana State Certified First Responders and 4 driver/observers. The National Registered Paramedics are: Mickey Scott; Bob Tinkey; Brian Richcreek; Chris Fancil; Chad Ford and Janelle Fancil. The Indiana Certified EMT Basic- Advanced Life Support Technicians are: Jeremy Caudill; Sarah Lancaster; Lindsey Hurt; Randy Patterson and Lindsey Hurt. The Indiana Certified EMT Basics are: Howard Birkel; Derek Patterson; Bob Elson; Scott Sigerfoos; Quinn Hunter and Kim Boyer. The Indiana Certified First Responders are: Joe Anderson and Larry Weaver, Jr. The Driver/ Observers are: Tony Meek; Justin Smith; Constance McKee and Matt Dunithan Two Syracuse EMS personnel are currently in the process of becoming paramedic certified.
