Founded in 1969 as the University of Cincinnati Rehabilitation Center, IKRON is the oldest community mental health organization in southwest Ohio. Certified by The Ohio Department of Mental Health and the Ohio Department of Alcohol and Drug Addiction Services, IKRON pioneered collaborative efforts with the Bureau of Vocation Rehabilitation to facilitate patient discharge and community reintegration, including competitive employment. The organization was also the first in its region to offer comprehensive rehabilitation programs focused on achieving and maintaining competitive employment and sobriety. Since 2004, IKRON has expanded its services to transitional-aged youth (16-22 years old), leveraging nearly four decades of experience in providing psycho-social and vocational services to individuals with mental health challenges. Its diverse program offerings include computer literacy, adult education, plantscapes, stress management, food service operations, clerical training, and wood shop activities, all supported by daily breakfast, lunch, and transportation assistance.
