IKRON (Integration of Knowledge and Resources for Occupational Needs) was founded in 1969 as the University of Cincinnati Rehabilitation Center. It is the oldest community mental health organization in southwest Ohio, certified by The Ohio Department of Mental Health. It was the first community facility to work collaboratively with the Bureau of Vo... cation Rehabilitation counselors to help prepare Longview State Hospital (Summit Behavioral Health) patients for discharge form the hospital to the community and to eventual competitive employment in the community. IKRON is the first rehabilitation center in southwest Ohio to offer a comprehensive rehabilitation program aimed at obtaining competitive employment and maintaining sobriety. IKRON is certified by the Ohio Department of Alcohol and Drug Addiction Services. In 2004, IKRON began providing services to transitional-aged youth (16-22 years of age). The company's staff has provided psycho-social and vocational services to individuals with problems of mental health for nearly 40 years. Incorporated into all of IKRONS counseling groups are a wide variety of activities. Some of these include computer literacy training, adult education, plantscapes activities, stress management, food service operating, clerical training, and wood shop activities. The company's program hours are from 9am to 2pm, Monday through Friday. Individuals receive a free breakfast and lunch every day, as well as transportation assistance.
