About West Plains Mining
West Plains Mining is a privately owned company headquartered in Wabash, Indiana. The company's first operation, Kentner Creek Stone, is a true "greensite" quarry, which means the operation was started from scratch with no prior quarry development. In May of 2007, the first groundbreaking took place since this time millions of tons of material has been distributed/sold. Current development extends 205' in depth with both open pit and underground mining taking place. The Kentner Creek operation mines Silurian age limestone with the location being unique in geological terms versus surrounding operations of northern Indiana. It is the only operation in the region that mines predominately non-reefal (underwater reefs of the Silurian age) and non-outwash limestone. In simple terms, this means the limestone is of high consistency and quality. West Plains owes volumes of gratitude to the individuals and companies that help made existence possible.Explore more
