It is a uniquely homegrown service proud of its community based origins. The West Auckland communities represent the Trust's life-blood and are at its heart. Established at the time large psychiatric hospitals (such as Carrington, and Kingseat) were closing down, we began offering housing and support to 12 people at Langford House - a property in T... e Atatu Road. In recognising the key role of the community in providing effective mental health services, we have made a point of participating in, and contributing to, key community forums, agencies and bodies that support and enhance our aims. WALSHtrust was a founding participant of Shared Vision West, is a member of West, Local and Combined Stakeholder Networks, Auckland District Council of Social Services (WADCOSS), has formed close links to Waitakere Council - participating in a number of initiatives, community groups, employers and local MPs.
