The story of Vasco Da Gama is an emotional one - from its roots as a newly formed club in 1980 through ups and downs to its current rise to national success through sustained commitment and teamwork. It is the story of strong community roots and a broad-based connection with a diversity of Cape cultures - a real life rags-to-riches tale of a group... of hardworking and passionate people who have arrived on the national stage and intend to stay there! It is the story of commitment - commitment to developing its youth, commitment to surviving and thriving at the highest level and a commitment to finding new partners who can contribute to and participate in Vasco's continuing journey of growth and success. Vasco were the winners of the 1988 and 1990 SA Amateur Club Championships, the 2002 and 2008 National 2nd Division and the 2010 National First Division ( with promotion to the PSL). Vasco have produced and fielded players such as Andre Arendse, Shaun Bartlett, Carlos Das Neves, Thabo Mngomeni, and David Nyathi (senior SA side and indoor SA) as well as Bradley Telemarchus Robert Santo, Nazeer Allie, and Mfundo Shamana (junior SA sides).Read More
