UK Earth Centre Network

The UK Earth Centre Network is a project which aims to support the development of all places across the UK where the principles and practice of sustainable living are being shared with people in the wider community. Currently we have 50 members across all of the UK's Regions. We believe that these "Earth Centres" have a key role to play in enabling... our society as a whole to become more sustainable and tackle important issues such as climate change, water shortages and local food production. This website is the first stage of the UK Earth Centre Network's development, providing an opportunity for people to find out where their local Earth Centres are and enabling Centres themselves to network more effectively. The next stage will be to arrange a series of Forums in each region of the UK for people working in Earth Centres to explore how their individual approaches to sustainable living are enabling their local communities to become more sustainable and how this important work can be funded more effectively. Currently the project is supported by funding from UnLtd, part of the Millennium Awards scheme and I.R.M, an environmental consultancy based in Lincolnshire. It has been envisioned and developed by Andrew Rothery who has previously worked in the sustainability field for the voluntary sector and local government and then down-sized to a low-impact lifestyle in a yurt for several years. Andrew now works on a range of community-orientated environmental initiatives.
