When Tytex was founded by the Thygesen family in 1971, it was a traditional textile manufacturer. In 1973, we began to develop and produce fixation pants for babies and incontinent adults - a speciality that received a boost several years later when we acquired the rights to an American patent for such garments. In time, we concentrated increasingl... y in the field of medical textiles, culminating in our decision in 1991 to focus exclusively on such products. Tytex has expanded steadily over the years. We began overseas production in 1984 in order to provide our clients with the best value for money. Today, our production is concentrated in modern facilities in Slovakia. We opened sales offices in the US in 1989 (Tytex Inc.) and in Germany in 1993 (Tytex GmbH). Both offices report to our sales headquarters in Denmark. Until June 2006, Tytex was owned by the Thygesen Textile Group (TTG). Today we are 100% owned by the Danish equity fund Maj Invest. Throughout our long history, Tytex has continued to innovate and generate consistently good returns - even in the depths of the global financial crisis.
