Transformer Center

The Transformer Center in Batu serves two main purposes, but they work in close relation to each other. The first is Selamat Pagi Indonesia Senior High School (SPI), the second is the social entrepreneurship that is run by the SPI students and graduates (YES: Young Entrepreneur Society). "Education is the most powerful weapon to change the world" (... Nelson Mandela). To solve the poverty problems in Indonesia, the first thing to do is to educate them. There is a high drop-out rate of high school students because their parents have no fund for the tuition. The main problem is a good education is expensive, therefore the poor are not able to afford to pay the tuition fee for their children. Julianto Eka Putra (Ko Jul), the founder of SPI, develops education for the poor and creates jobs for the graduates. One of the objectives of the school is character building. In order to meet this objective, besides learning the theory of entrepreneurship at school, the students also learn life skills to survive. The lessons are delivered based on criteria method which includes 9 Quotients, PAKSA (Pray, Attitude, Knowledge, Skill and Action), and The Values of Life. The school adopts a full-day-school concept which gives a chance to students to interact with their mentors. The practical experience is crucial for the students because most of them can´t afford university education. That´s the reason why they are highly motivated to work in different enterprise divisions. Within these divisions, the students learn life skills and try to implement their own ideas in order to practice entrepreneurship. The school is located in Transformer Center which is utilized as a laboratory of entrepreneurship. Transformer Center is functioning as an educational land for its students. During weekends Transformer Center offers program for life skill lessons such as, financial planning and generating income as entrepreneurs.
