Transcend Education

Transcend's work with school communities and the larger ecosystem is guided by five fundamental beliefs. 1 | ALL children have infinite potential. 2 | To realize this potential, Transcend must reimagine schooling as Transcend knows it. Instead of an inequitable, industrial model of education that reproduces oppression, ten key leaps are essential t... o foster dramatically better learning experiences for all. 3 | The work is most successful when pursued through a rigorous, community-driven R&D process grounded in equity. The process is liberatory, iterative, embraces research and evidence in multiple forms, and is done with stakeholders, not to them. 4 | While never easy, innovation is absolutely possible. The keys are underlying conditions that enable change, powerful design, and diverse, supportive networks. 5 | Accelerating progress requires strong local leadership, surrounded by a conducive ecosystem. Leaders, policy-makers, advocates, funders, solution-providers, and others who are learner-centered and equity-grounded will help communities make the most progress. Taking ten key leaps will help Transcend move from inequitable, industrial-era learning to learning that is equitable and responsive to the demands and opportunities of the 21st century. As the many schools already undertaking this transition would acknowledge, these shifts cannot happen overnight. Instead, they require an iterative journey marked by strong and innovative designs, conditions that support change, and networks of support. Transcend at Transcend support communities across the country in undertaking this journey.Read More
