The Albert Kennedy Trust

The Albert Kennedy Trust is a UK LGBT+ youth homelessness charity providing safe homes, mentoring, training and support to give young people the start in life they deserve. Twenty-four per cent of young people facing homelessness identify as LGBT+ with 77 per cent of those citing familial rejection and abuse as the primary cause. Expanding its reach across the UK, an additional case worker will be placed in a new city, and the charity will also embark on work with a leading academic to study the impact of its services where they are most needed. The Albert Kennedy Trust will also expand its Youth Engagement Programme through the addition of a dedicated Youth Engagement Officer, who will work to expand the Trust's annual youth conference and facilitate additional outreach and engagement activities. The donation will also help the Trust to continue its work in giving young people in crisis access to a safe home, through accommodation run by the charity, helping young people with the cost of deposits and rent, offering short stays in LGBT-friendly accommodation and hostels, and providing advice and guidance.Read More
