Tower Hamlets Community Housing (THCH) was formed in March 2000 with Government funding of £21 million secured from Round 3 of the Estates Renewal Challenge Fund for the transfer of 1,249 homes owned by the London Borough of Tower Hamlets, including 215 leased properties. Further homes transferred to THCH in 2004 (Tarling Estate) and 2006 following... the successful ballot (via Housing Choice) of Norton House and the Mansford and Avebury East Estates. THCH is a charitable housing provider with a strong community ethos that prides itself on its high levels of resident satisfaction, providing a mix of quality, affordable housing and has a proud history of delivering innovative and regenerative housing developments. Our vision is Building Connected Communities by: THCH has an annual turnover (2018/19) of £18m and manages more than 3,000 homes (two thirds rented and one third leasehold) in the western side of Tower Hamlets, covering Spitalfields, Bethnal Green, Stepney, Shadwell and Wapping. The majority of homes were transferred from Tower Hamlets Council in 2000, but THCH has since added a range of commercial and residential properties including properties for private sale, shared ownership and for social rent. We employ approximately 85 staff.
