TEIN4 and the applications developed to exploit the infrastructure, by enhancing Networking and Communication capacities will sustain development. By contributing to ICT development TEIN activities and its applications are in line with the 1st goal of the MDGs contributing indirectly or even directly to "Eradicate Extreme Hunger and Poverty", but m... ay also focus on specific users and applications to contribute to others goals such as No 2 and 6 on Education and Health, 7 on Environmental Sustainability and 8 on Global Partnership for Development. In that context (both the DCI regulation and the MDGs goals) the choice of TEIN4 applications, become an increasingly important aspect of the new project. By providing the Asia-Pacific countries with a gateway for collaborations across the regional user communities, TEIN4 will increase the ability of developing Asian countries to participate alongside the advanced Asian nations in collaborative programmes, and ease the „Digital Divide? that exists within the global communities of research, education, and health. TEIN3 has had a catalytic effect on national research and education network development in all beneficiary partner countries, and allowed all partners to participate in demonstrations and application programmes alongside the non-beneficiary countries.
