Ourmission is to design and produce handmade textiles honoring India's rich craftsmanship traditions of weaving, block carving, printing and dyeing, by partnering with textile artists. By using high quality materials and traditional manual processes, SUNDAY/MONDAY hopes to support the preservation of Indian craftsmanship while also creating beautif... ul, one-of-a-kind heirloom textiles. How we got started: Growing up, Nisha regularly visited family in Ahmedabad, Gujarat, where she was exposed to the region's vibrant textile heritage. As a second generation business owner and the daughter of Gujarati immigrants, she dreamed of starting a business rooted in community and craft. When Nisha first visited and chatted with local weavers in Kutch, they voiced their concern about the future of their craft and livelihoods. Over hot cups of chai, this evolved into a larger discussion about a mutual interest in bringing local handwoven textiles to a larger market. How we work with our textile partners in India: SUNDAY/MONDAY partners directly with weaving families in Gujarat and a block printing family in Rajasthan. Other than some of our hand woven rugs designed by our weavers, SUNDAY/MONDAY textiles are designed in New York by Nisha and Brendan and are informed by traditional Indian motifs. The designs are then shared with the weavers or block printers in India, who provide input, and make the products. All of our textiles are made in India.
