Summit to Sea

We are Summit to Sea Retail, Anglesey's biggest independent outdoor retailer and arguably North Wales largest kayak retailer. We chose our location to ensure that we could offer outstanding service to sea kayak customers in an area that attracts visitors not just from all over the UK, but worldwide. We carry sea kayaks from P&H, Tiderace, SKUK, Val... ley, North Shore, Venture Kayaks & Tahe Marine. We run an extensive demo fleet. We offer paddles from Mitchell Blades (handmade in Chester), Lendal (produced locally in Holyhead) and Werner. We have clothing & accessories from Peak UK, Typhoon and more. Being located so close to Stanley, a tidal playboating hotspot means that we're also ideally suited to demo playboats, whatever the weather, we have whitewater boats from Pyranha, Jackson & Wavesport. We've come from humble beginnings, starting out in a double garage with an ebay shop, moving into a large "shed" which we built ourselves and created a 6m by 6m showroom. On Good Friday 2011, we moved into our current premises, a 2,000 square foot showroom located on the A5 in Valley. Our background is in teaching and coaching which led us to take a different approach to selling kayaks, we firmly believe that you "shouldn't buy it, unless you've tried it and liked it". Our original aim was to meet the needs of kayakers, climbers & campers visiting the island, but suddenly finding they had forgotten an essential piece of equipment, that was going to ruin their weekend. When we first visited the island, the absence of any outdoor equipment suppliers struck us as odd, particularly when compared with "honeypot" locations like Betws y Coed, Ambleside, Keswick, Fort William & Aviemore. Our original visit to the island was to climb on the sea cliffs of Gogarth, it was in the days before the A55 dual carriageway was built across the island.
