The seeds of this vision were planted over a decade ago when our founders, Amiram Shachar and Liran Polak, were members of the cloud infrastructure unit of the Israel Defense Forces (IDF). Responsible for managing all the IDFs data-centers and virtualization systems, they witnessed firsthand the challenges of fully utilizing available resources in an efficient manner. During their time pursuing degrees in Computer Science, Amiram and Lirans final academic research had focused on datacenter inefficiencies and novel ways to address them by utilizing spot instances in the public cloud. As an outcome of this successful research, they founded Spot (initially known as Spotinst) to build on that research project and turn it into commercial products. Since delivering our first product based on that technology, our team has been busy helping customers save up to 90% on their computing costs.
