Specialised Management Services Ltd (SMS) was formed in 1999 predominately as a service and support company to the oil and gas industry. Within two years it had out-grown its original facility, moved to larger premises and doubled its number of employees, this was facilitated by the acquisition of C&M Hydraulics an already well-established supply c... ompany to the oil and gas and local industries. With a larger base and an increase of skilled staff, SMS was able to secure prestigious offshore maintenance contracts and other ancillary work, to complement its existing core business and the already established C&M Hydraulics client base. With a sound footing in the oil and gas industry SMS was then able to develop panel manufacturing, and from small beginnings SMS are now an international brand with an extensive history and pedigree in the highly competitive world of topside hydraulic, pneumatic and electrical control systems. In 2003 Alderley plc acquired SMS, including C&M, to strengthen their company portfolio; Alderley plc is a multi-disciplined engineering company with over 50 years experience in the oil, gas and petrochemical industries and have bases in the United Kingdom, United Arab Emirates, Saudi Arabia and Russia.
