We created Scragged.com for the same reason a zillion other people have created blogs: we're tired of something and want to scream about it. In our case, we're tired of the mainstream media bashing America, promoting liberalism and hiding facts that back conservative agendas. We're tired of politicians that constantly say one thing and do another -... but don't prefer the ones that promise bad things and then actually do them. We're tired of bureaucrats and their obsession with finding more phony "problems" to "solve" with an increased budget. We hate knowing that private citizens can no longer control the things they own, compete in the marketplace without being worried about political correctness, keep most of what they earn or even spank their children. Our commencement essay says it well. (It explains the name too.) And, despite appearances, we aren't cynics. There is a better way. Our Founding Fathers wrote the finest set of governmental documents of all time - the Constitution and Bill of Rights, and the Federalist Papers to explain how it all worked. Under the wise guidance of their writings, the United States rose from a two-bit backwater to, after World War 2, being able to dictate terms militarily, politically, and economically anywhere in the world. But in the last century, and particularly the last half-century, America has forgotten the guiding principles that made our government so stable, successful, and free. Why are we surprised to find our politics unstable, our government unsuccessful, and our lives increasingly less free? We've cast aside the rulebook that explains how it all works. Screaming about our problems is only the first step: we need to do something to fix them.
