The g... roup has its first sugar plant, Modi Sugar Mills which was established in 1932. ith growing demand of sugar, the group decided to add another arm its sugar manufacturing unit. So in 1998, they collaborated with SBEC System Limited UK, to form SBEC Sugar Limited(SBEC). The plant is located at Baraut, Uttar Pradesh and designed for a daily production capacity of 10,000 tonne of cane crushing Per day (TDC). SBEC has access to cotting-edge technology in sugar manufacturing while the promoter company SBEC System Ltd. is a global player in project design , engineering and consultancy. With in a year,the plant of SBEC commenced commercial production with an initial capacity of 3500 TCD. The Plant now has a capacity of 8000 TCD of cane. Recognised as one of the most hi-tech plants in the country, the Annual production of SBEC amounts to a whopping 1,40,000 tonne of plantation white sugar. To utilize the bagasse (left over extract of sugarcane) produced by SBEC during sugar production, a 12 MW co-generation power plant has been commissioned by its sister concern SBEC Bioenergy Ltd (SBL). Bagasse generated by SBEC is supplied to SBL which generates power from it. And since SBEC utilises only 2 MW of the generated power, the surplus 10 MW is supplied to the Uttar Pradesh Power Corporation Limited grid.
