Sarcona was established in New York City in 1946 as a local trucking company. As the needs of the company's clientele grew, so did the company's services, resulting in the acquisition of a Custom House License in 1947. Ten years later the New York operation was expanded to include a terminal at JFK International Airport to facilitate the processing of import and export air traffic. In 1976 Sarcona again expanded it's operation through the opening of air and ocean container stations in New York and New Jersey. Logistics management and e-commerce has influenced growth and expansion. The need for rapid fulfillment and distribution in the fast moving internet business produced a state of the art computer system with real time inventory levels and shipping information.
