SEDA is an agency of the South African Department of Trade and Industry (the dti) which was established in December 2004 through the National Small Business Amendment Act, Act 29 of 2004. SAMTI is funded funded SEDA, supported by the Central University of Technology (CUT) to develop the SMME tooling market in the Free State Province. Our aim is to... develop SMMEs that supply tools to the Mining and Agriculture environments in South Africa, and in so doing create an enterprise within the tooling sector. We employ a technology-based development approach to train individuals and regional communities in the act of designing and producing tools. Beyond that, we also provide innovative, entrepreneurial opportunities to people and assist with the establishment of sustainable tooling design businesses. SAMTI is a section 21 company governed by a board of directors which comprises of experts from the CUT and the SEDA Technology Programme (STP).
