About Project Cicero

Project Cicero is a citywide initiative in New York City that provides free new and gently used books to teachers from under-resourced public schools, aiming to enhance classroom libraries and foster a love of reading among students. Each March, the organization organizes a book drive where families, schools, and publishers donate books, which are then sorted by volunteers for teachers to select. Since its inception in 2001, Project Cicero has distributed over 4.5 million books, serving more than 1,000 teachers and reaching over 1 million students annually. The project relies on the generosity of donors, volunteers, and partner organizations to support its mission of making books accessible to every child in NYC.Explore more
