Prime Coatings's parent company, Prime Leather Finishes (PLF) was incorporated in 1931 and has gone on to become one of Americas largest producers of innovative products for tanners, shoe manufacturers, and leather goods manufacturers. Prime Coatings was purchased and began manufacturing in 1969. Both companies have achieved reputations for innovat... ion, quality, and expertise in the formulation, design, and manufacture of chemical coatings. PLF recently entered into a strategic alliance with 3M Corporation to manufacture OEM and consumer care protective performance products for leather. Prime Coatings's manufacturing capabilities encompass the full spectrum of fluid finishes including Waterborne, Solventborne, and UV-Cured Coatings. Prime Coatings's 2011 plant expansion in Pewaukee, Wisconsin signals a step forward for Prime Coatings, vastly increasing output, capacity and efficiency, and tightening production controls while improving logistics. Prime Coatings's plants have been designed to be both clean and efficient, and most of Prime Coatings's highly skilled employees have been with Prime Coatings's company for more than 20 years. Manufacturing takes place in separate facilities in order to minimize the risk of a supply disruption due to a fire, flood, or other calamity. Each plant retains certain redundant operations, which serve to back up current production. Prime Coatings is corporate members of Chemical Coaters International. Prime Coatings has received the Supplier of the year award four different times in the last twenty years, the most recent being June 2012.
