Plantec Inc. is a mid-sized Consulting Engineering firm located in Markham, Ontario, Canada. Plantec provides engineering and consulting services to clients primarily in Southern Ontario, although the firm has also successfully undertaken projects in the United States, Bahamas, United Arab Emirates, Kuwait and many Canadian provinces, including Nov... a Scotia, British Columbia, Alberta, Saskatchewan and Manitoba. Plantec Cable Management Inc. was established to enable us to provide related, non-professional services such as building network cabling, cable locating, network and facilities management and maintenance, testing, inspection and emergency restoration services. Our primary business focus includes providing the broad range of support services often required by telecommunications companies and power utilities. Those services include AM/FM/GIS functions, system design, software sales and support, communications network design, power grid design, software integration and numerous civil engineering functions associated with these industries. The firm has been involved in numerous long-distance fibre optic cable outside plant projects for one of Canada's largest facilities-based voice, data and Internet telecommunications providers, MTS Allstream (formerly AT&T Canada). The activities include route investigation and feasibility studies, cost analysis of the various alternatives, right-of-way acquisition, surveying and engineering drawing preparation, municipal consents, preparation of tender and contract documents together with contract administration. Typical projects include these activities for cable routes from Toronto to Ottawa, Toronto to Sudbury and Winnipeg to Calgary. Recently Plantec provided engineering, design and documentation services to support an inside plant project undertaken by Pheonix Integrated Services.
