ODB has provided finance for the various projects which add value to the Omani economy. Oman Bank for Agriculture and Fisheries was established in 1982 to promote the growth in the agriculture and fisheries sector. The Bank has played a key role in the growth of this vital sector by providing soft and low-interest loans. In 1997, the Omani wise government decided to merge the two banks in one bank 'Oman Development Bank - ODB'. ODB provides broader range of services for the prioritized development sectors at the various national five-year development plans. Over the past 40 years, ODB managed to overcome the challenges it has faced and promote the growth of SMEs, which are always classified as high risk borrowers. Thanks to its long experience in the field, ODB managed to achieve good performance indicators in the key areas such as loan portfolio, meeting international standards and compliance. The achievements made over the past period are due to the collaboration of all efforts by the various boards, executive management and dedicated staff that was always above expectations. The sustainability of any organization is linked to its ability to keep pace with changes and developments especially amid rapid changes taking place at the economic and financial sectors. ODB thus sought to develop appropriate strategies that meet the needs of the development stages in the Sultanate and be up to the expectations of beneficiaries from the Bank's services and products.
