New Zealand Armys well equipped and operationally prepared land forces provide effective combat capabilities for a wide range of tasks, working alongside national, regional and international partners, allies and friends, and supporting peace, stability and prosperity wherever our Government directs us. As a light combat force, we are highly mobile and capable of operating in a range of complex threat environments. Chief Of Army - Major General John Boswell, DSD The Chief of Army commands our Army providing leadership and management to all Regular and Territorial Force personnel and our civilian staff. The Chief of Army is responsible for ensuring we meet the goals set by the Chief of Defence Force and the New Zealand Government, and he is the principal advisor to the Chief of Defence Force on NZ Army matters.
