MGS Research, Inc. is a privately held corporation based in Madison, Connecticut, and dedicated to inventing, developing, and commercializing new products and services in the area of three-dimensional radiation dosimetry for therapeutic and diagnostic radiology. Our company was founded in 1992 by Marek J. Maryanski, Ph.D., John C. Gore, Ph.D., and... Robert J. Schulz, Ph.D., all Yale - based co-inventors of the polymer gel dosimetry technique, which was patented in 1994 (US Patent 5,321,357). The patent was assigned to Yale University. In 1995, MGS Research became the exclusive licensee of Yale's patented invention of polymer gel dosimetry. In 1997, BANG gel dosimeters received FDA 510k approval for clinical use with either MRI or optical CT scanning. In 1998, the BANG® trademark was registered by the USPTO. Also in 1998, two of the three original founders, Drs. Gore and Schulz, left MGS Research, and Dr. Maryanski became its sole owner. In 2001, the US patent (US Pat. 6,218,673) for the method of 3D radiation dosimetry by optical CT scanning of 3D dosimeters, co-invented by Drs Gore, Maryanski and Schulz, was granted by the USPTO and was assigned to Yale University. In 2003, MGS Research became the exclusive licensee of Yale's patented invention of 3D radiation dosimetry using optical CT of 3D dosimeters. Our Research and Development program has been funded between 1993 and 2005 by multiple grants from the National Institutes of Health under its Small Business Innovation Research Program. Further grants are pending and more are in preparation at this time. We welcome collaboration with academic centers and industrial laboratories to develop new technologies, new intellectual property, and new products and services.
