About Melani's Moods
Melani's Moods was founded in 1977, when owners Mark & Abby started selling imported silkscreen wallhangings at the Roosevelt Field Flea Market. The entrepreneur couple had just given birth to a beautiful baby girl, Melani Beth, and the name of their company was forever set. Two years later, in 1979, Abby and Mark opened the first Melani's Moods retail location on Willis Avenue in Mineola. Soon, Melani's Moods started importing fabrics from iconic international design companies like Marimekko and Mira-X. When clients started asking for custom pillows and drapery, we opened a workroom and sharpened our sewing skills. In 1984, we made the big move to Plainview, NY the corner of South Oyster Bay and Woodbury Roads became our new home. Melani's Moods had already expanded from decorative wall art to carrying a full line of top treatments, pillows, bedding, and drapery, so it was only natural that we began our relationship with Hunter Douglas® around this time.
