Founded in 1958, the Lyric Opera brings high quality live operatic performances to the people of the Kansas City area and five-state region at the state-of-the-art Kauffman Center for the Performing Arts. Repertoire choices encompass original language performances of standard repertory as well as contemporary and American operas, including a 2015 production of the Pulitzer-prize winning Silent Night. The Company seeks to mount productions that enrich the community it serves, as well as reflect the highest artistic standards of the profession. Stern Opera Center located in the East Crossroads area of downtown Kansas City at 1725 Holmes St. The Opera Center includes the Beth Ingram Administration Building, where the Company's offices are based above a 4000 sq. ft. area for set storage, and the Michael and Ginger Frost Production Arts Building, housing space for rehearsals, set construction and painting, prop storage, costume shop, and vocal coaching rooms.Read More
