Tripper has been working with his dad Tripp Wood since he was 3 years old. Through the years, Tripper and his dad has done many ventures together. Previously, his dad owned and operated a local trucking company. At the age of 14, Tripper became one of the youngest PADI certified divers. An accomplishment few young teens have achieved. Also, that su... mmer, Tripper and his dad took a 17 day cycling trip from their home in Charlotte, North Carolina, to Orlando, Florida. 739 miles later, they arrive safely at their destination. Not having ridden before, except a 12 mile test ride, we jumped on our bike and took off on Earth day Tripper recalls. In 1989, Tripper started learning how to train dogs with their first Labrador puppy, Bareon. From that point, his passion for working with animals grew to the point of formulating the LABPUPS Obedience Training Program. Today, the majority of people that purchase a Labrador puppy, can schedule training with Tripper for their brand new puppy. Tripper takes his time to educate people that might never have owned a lab puppy, or dog at all. GOOD LOOKS OR A GREAT PERSONALITY? The distinction between looks and temperament is an important one. Many homeowners like the idea of having a dog that has a championship bloodline. Show dogs, however, are bred primarily for their looks, and can be difficult to train, according to Wood. Field Trial dogs represent the opposite end of the extreme, being bred for raw energy and intelligence. These extremes typically make less than ideal pets for a family situation. The good news is that now you can find a Lab or Golden specifically bred for the family. Wood was the first to establish the Family breed standard years ago. We spent a lot of time at the pound to discover what people want and dont want in a dog, Wood explains. We noticed people bringing in Labs because they were too hyper.
