Intelara, has taken the next step in its growth strategy by acquiring one of Sydney's oldest and preeminent engineering firms. Intelara Managing Director Michael Lethlean last night announced a merger with Sydney-based LHO Group, a firm that has just celebrated its 50th anniversary and been involved in many of Australia's internationally recognised... and iconic projects. These projects include Sydney's Opera House, Airport Tower and Terminal 2 domestic terminal complex, Canberra's new Parliament House, the Sydney 2000 Olympics Aquatic, Hockey and Athletic facilities, Conservatorium of Music and the Ayers Rock Resort. Michael said the merger would bolster Intelara's capacity and capability in the specialist areas of hydraulic and fire services nationally and enable the company to establish a Sydney office. "For some time we've been looking for a strategic or alliance partner in Sydney, but for us, it was critical it was the right fit - for us and our clients. "The LHO Group has an enviable track record and is a like-minded, progressive engineering consultancy that shares the same values and commitment to their clients and their people as we do." The LHO Group is no stranger to Queensland having established an office in Brisbane in 1971 and since been involved in projects such as the Queensland Conservatorium of Music, Lennons Hotel, Central Plaza 1, Brisbane Grammar School's Indoor Sports Complex, Brisbane's Domestic and International Airport Terminal, Garden City Shopping Centre, QE2 and Royal Children's Hospitals and Sheraton (now Sofitel) Hotel. Projects on the Gold Coast include the Ramada and ANA (now Outrigger Surfers Paradise) hotels, the Paradise Centre and Pines Shopping Centre.
