Holy Wisdom Monastery

Holy Wisdom Monastery is a spiritual resource for both women and men. It is also home of Benedictine Women of Madison, an ecumenical monastic community who seeks God through a life following the Gospel and the Rule of Benedict. Our ecumenical community invites single Christian women of any denomination to visit the monastery and explore a call to m... onastic life. It is our privilege to share our life of prayer, hospitality, justice and care for the earth with people of diverse views and cultures. We invite you to join those who say, "When I come in the door, it feels like coming home." One way the sisters live out their mission is by offering Benedictine hospitality to all. Guests find the peaceful setting ideal for personal and group retreats, meetings, weddings, funerals, concerts, nature walks and much more. All are welcome to join the community in daily prayer or Sunday worship. Holy Wisdom Monastery features two main buildings: the Monastery, awarded the highest LEED certification and one of the "greenest" buildings in the U.S. and the newly renovated Retreat and Guest House; two hermitages and 138 acres of land, including restored prairies, a small glacial lake, woodlands, four miles of nature trails, gardens and orchards. The quiet reconnection to nature that the setting provides and the contemplative atmosphere at the monastery, are conducive to both personal time away and to group gatherings.
