He was born to immigrant parents in southern Ontario. He has a bachelors degree in biochemistry from the University of Waterloo. He went to medical school at the University of Western Ontario in London. He completed his specialist training as a General Surgeon at the University of Ottawa and has a sub-specialty fellowship in laparoscopic and minimally invasive surgery from McMaster University in Hamilton. Mark has an MBA from the University of Tennessee in Knoxville. He is a Fellow of the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada and is dual-licensed to practice general surgery in Ontario and Quebec. Mark is part of Freiheits corporate leadership team. He does not practice medicine in his role at Freiheit and for that reason he is not able to look after you medically unless you want to see him for a colonoscopy in the Ottawa area, where he continues an active part-time medical practice. Mark passionately believes that you deserve to receive the best possible care. Mark has years of experience in the public health care system, where rather than the Olympic motto of Faster, Higher, Stronger, the emphasis is all too often on Faster and Cheaper. Mark believes that proper home care is done more slowly, and less cheaply. At Freiheit, he believes in offering the best possible value for money.
