Freedom Air is strengthening its commitment to the Hamilton and Sydney business community with an increase in its direct services - from two to five each week. The additional services, which begin in December 2005, will mean that those wanting to visit Hamilton or Sydney can leave and return on any week day except Tuesday, with a weekend service of... fered for leisure travellers on Sundays. Freedom Air General Manager Stephen Jones says the increase aims to support the growing business market in Hamilton and Sydney which wants frequent, local air services to key New Zealand and Australian ports. "Recent research has shown us that for the Hamilton-Sydney market only 10% of passengers were actually flying out of Hamilton, with 90% flying out of Auckland." "Hamilton is a key market for us and we know that offering frequency and reliability is the key to getting local businesses to use our services. With five weekly services on our new Airbus A320, we're confident people living from Thames to Taranaki will start using Hamilton International Airport as their gateway to Sydney," says Jones. The inaugural flight of Freedom Air's first Airbus A320 leaves Hamilton on June 8 th to Nadi and a further three Airbus A320s will join the fleet in August, October and December, replacing the existing Boeing 737s. "This means we will be using the brand new aircraft on our new Hamilton/Sydney services, and by the time Freedom Air celebrates its 10 th birthday at the end of the year we will have a completely new fleet." Freedom is also increasing its weekly service between Wellington and the Gold Coast to twice weekly from December.
