Transwest Air

Formed in 2000 by the merger of Saskatchewan-based Athabaska Airways and La Ronge Aviation Services, Transwest Air has built on the combined legacies of these two airlines and evolved to become one of the largest independent air carriers in Canada, with the most diverse and comprehensive fleet in Saskatchewan. Floyd Glass of Prince Albert founded A... thabaska Airways in 1955 with just one aircraft, a Cessna 180. Five years later, Pat Campling Sr. founded Air Sask (La Ronge Aviation Services) in La Ronge, also with just one Cessna 180. Mirroring the growth of the province, both airlines expanded steadily over the years, adding different aircraft and gradually broadening the scope and reach of their businesses. The joining of the two airlines to form Transwest Air was undertaken by the sons of the original owners, Jim Glass and Pat Campling Jr., Their guiding principles were to support the development of Northern Saskatchewan by safely and consistently delivering the best possible value to our customers. On July 1, 2016, West Wind Aviation purchased Transwest Air. Transwest Air is now a wholly owned subsidiary of West Wind Aviation. Transwest Air is now 87% Aboriginal owned and 13% employee owned. The company offers both rotary and fixed-wing charter services, and has the largest scheduled service network in Saskatchewan. Today, Transwest Air employs over 200 personnel in locations ranging from Prince Albert and Saskatoon, to Buffalo Narrows and Fond-du-Lac, proving that we not only serve the North, but work and live alongside our valued customers and partners. With a varied and ever-expanding fleet of more than 30 aircraft (both helicopters and fixed-wing aircraft on wheels, floats, and skis), Transwest Air is the only operator in Saskatchewan with the capability of moving people and goods to and from virtually any location in the province and beyond.
