Forester Farms

We specialize in bee hive woodenware and supplies, square foot garden frames, custom saw milling, woodworking, and sustainable farming. We also do swarm removal. We are a distributor for Mann Lake beekeeping supplies. Owner and operator Derick Forester is a third generation beekeeper, certified by Young Harris College and University of Georgia Beek... eeper Institute. Our bee business is in memory of Derick's grandad and uncle who are the other 2 generations of keeping bees. In 2015, we came up with this picture to use for our honey labels and product labels. It is the original barn and corn crib here on Forester farms. The car was a 1947 Willis coupe that belonged to grandad Homer Lee Forester. It was modified to have a wood bed for hauling cotton and other farm products. I am a third generation Bee keeper, promoting Beekeeping and Sustainable Farming. My Uncle and Grandfather kept bees also. The Forester's have been farming in the Rising Fawn area since 1838. My uncle passed away it 1978, when I was 16 and my grandfather was getting too old to keep the bees, so I took the opportunity in 2010 to take a class with the Tennessee Valley Beekeepers Association to update my skills in beekeeping. So many things had changed from the way we were keeping bees. We now have problems of pests and diseases and also the growing problem on spraying insecticides, which was causing a major decline in our bee population. After taking this class which was very informative, I was back into beekeeping and carrying on my family tradition. I also love doing wood working, so I started making my own hives for my bees and going to a couple of the association meetings in the area. Several new beekeepers asked me if I would make them a hive set for their bees. I started building and making woodenware and picking up a few supplies and selling them also.
