Focus Africa

We are a non-governmental organization of Christian women and men committed to supporting Christ-centered resource centres for women and children in Africa. Our sincere desire is to be a voice of hope and to make a difference in the lives of women and children affected by HIV/AIDS. Our story began in 2004 with Allan and Myrna Ronald's frontline inv... olvement with the AIDS epidemic in Kenya with the University of Manitoba. A conference to learn what the church's role should be in the pandemic called "Embracing Opportunities, the Churches' Response to AIDS in Africa" was held at Calvary Temple. There were about 400 attendees with speakers from the AIDS community in Winnipeg, Kenya, Uganda and other parts of Canada. Following the conference, several individuals were eager to continue to raise awareness and to help where possible. We began to meet as Focus Africa shortly after the conference. We are a group of Christians committed to spreading the love of Jesus in a practical way. We help meet the spiritual, physical, emotional and economic needs of women and children affected by HIV/AIDS in Winnipeg and internationally. We raise awareness and funds to support affected communities. We also provide a platform for you to respond in a practical way through donations and/or joining our fundraising activities as a volunteer.Read More
