It started as a joint venture company between Siemens AG of Germany and Nokia of Finland. Envisioned to manufacture telephone sets for Philippine Long Distance Telephone Co. Incorporated (PLDT) in 1982, the organization grew aggressively from the late 80s to the early 90s. It started providing telecom infrastructure services like Copper and Fiber O... ptic cable networks, Radio-Backbone Systems, Core-Switching Systems and other telecom related services resulting to a manpower complement of 3,000 workers with a foreign deployment of 300 engineers. One of the major milestones of ETSI Technologies include the deployment of 300 maintenance engineers for the Globe Telecom 3G mobile network and set up of NetworkLabs, Inc. - a Research and Development Center specifically designed to serve Nokia Networks' global needs. ETSI has also successfully set up the 1st GSM phone call in the Philippines at the Malacañang Palace during President Fidel Ramos' administration. Today, the company is 100% Filipino-owned with Atty.
