Cape Town EMBRACE aims to partner with the city's Midwife Obstetric Units, Non-Profit organisations, faith-based organisations and community-based secular organisations to enable an amazing movement of people connecting with each other across the highways and railways that divide us. We aim to achieve this as follows: Mobilize city volunteers (refe... rred to as connectors) from churches, mosques, synagogues and temples; book clubs, parent groups, social clubs and friendship groups. Partner these connectors with a community based organization, NPO or MOU (Midwife Obstetrics Unit) through which parents/caregivers with children in the first 1000 days are mobilized Conduct separate formal orientation group sessions with both the connectors and the caregivers to introduce EMBRACE and empower all with tools to connect Host family fun days or group gatherings to introduce caregivers to connectors. At the initial gathering, each caregiver will be partnered with a specific connector Encourage monthly "connections" (caregiver and connector meetings) to occur outside of a large group setting where participants can get to know each other and discuss ways to support the caregiver-child relationship, and ultimately assist that child in reaching their great potential. Offer additional support via debriefing sessions where caregivers and connectors can safely share their experience of participating in EMBRACE and seek additional support if necessary.
