Dr Yolanda Whyte Pediatrics

Dr. Yolanda Whyte has served the healthcare needs of children throughout the state of Georgia, with the Indian Health Service and on medical missions to Ghana, Vietnam, Haiti, Jamaica and Guyana for over 9 years. Through a 'sandwich approach,' she addresses preventive health and environmental care. From the bottom up, Dr. Whyte integrates environme... ntal health into medical practice and engages communities through local projects, conferences, press conferences, rallies and workshops. From the top down, she collaborates with partners to see that our laws, practices and public policies have pediatric, health, environmental and human rights considerations on local, state and federal levels. Her environmental health interests include toxic chemicals in consumer products, heavy metals, indoor and outdoor air pollution, coal ash, water pollution and fluoridation, hydraulic fracturing and nuclear energy. She offers practical solutions and emphasizes child vulnerabilities, ethnic health disparities, environmental and economic injustices. Dr. Yolanda Whyte obtained her B.S. in Biology from Howard University graduating cum laude, and completed her medical training at the University of Wisconsin School of Medicine, where she earned a Medical Student Leadership Award. Following her pediatric internship at the Medical College of Virginia, she graduated from the nation's first community pediatrics residency at Morehouse School of Medicine where she was appointed Pediatric Resident Representative, elected Pediatric Chair for the Morehouse Resident Association received a Pediatric Residency Teaching Award. Dr. Whyte is proud of her instrumental role in the passage of the Whistleblower Protection Enhancement Act of 2012, protecting patient care and the integrity of medical training institutions.
