Richard F. Conlon, who believed in "guts and hard work along with good, sound business practices," founded Conlon Construction Co. in 1903. Through the first two decades of the 20th century he left his mark all across southwestern Wisconsin - working on a variety of mechanical, electrical, and civil engineering projects, in Cuba City and the surrou... nding area. By 1922, the Company needed to relocate after a period of exceptional growth. He moved to Dubuque, Iowa, where greater educational and other oppor tunities were available for the growing Conlon family. In the mid-1930's, the Company now in the capable hands of the second generation of Conlons, had become firmly established in the region having built a number of prominent college and university buildings, factories, religious structures, and municipal buildings throughout Iowa, Wisconsin, and Minnesota. As the decades have passed, a third generation of Conlons - Steve, Mike and Tim - have assumed the mantle of leadership and Richard Conlon's values remain vibrant and true. These values are the reason we were able to celebrate our 100-year anniversary in 2003 - a milestone at Conlon we are all proud of. In 1978, we received our first contract with Target Corporation which has led the way to hundreds of projects for the national retailer. In 1996, we received their first-ever Vendor of the Year Award in recognition of leadership, dependability, superior service, and support for Target's "Speed Is Life" philosophy. We work in all fifty (50) states and have provided varied construction and store fixturing services not only for Target, but other major retail clients as well. Expanding our capabilities and understanding of the unique requirements of retail construction, has enabled us to grow our business significantly so that we now provide even greater services.
