Closer Communities

Closer Communities offers support to parents/carers with children 0-25 who have disabilities, additional needs or complex medical needs/long term health conditions. We give support to the whole family holistically in whatever way we can. Our aim is to ensure that no-one feels isolated or that they have no-where to turn to. Our services are free, im... partial and confidential. We aim to empower disabled children and young people and their families to develop their confidence and achieve their aspirations in a supportive environment. We create inclusive opportunities for our children and young people to take part in play, learning, leisure, skills training and social activities. Our growing success is based upon building a close supportive partnership with parents, carers and siblings and helping them find solutions to the obstacles they meet in daily life. Activities are designed to encourage engagement and participation, bringing people together to support each other, make friends, socialising, reducing isolation and loneliness. We understand how difficult it can be and work with our families to connect with other families and professionals in order to improve the health, education and wellbeing of the whole family within their local community. We embrace the importance and power of learning, enabling children, young people and adults to try things out without the fear of failure, changing the emphasis from surviving into thriving.
