City Connect

At CityConnect our aim is to encourage more people to travel by bike. We've built high quality cycle infrastructure such as the Leeds to Bradford Cycle Superhighway, upgraded canal towpaths and we are continuing to improve infrastructure across West Yorkshire. However, we know that there's more that can be done. We also offer support through engage... ment initiatives such as cycle training, cycle challenges, business and school support and behaviour change campaigns. CityConnect is funded by the Department for Transport's Cycle City Ambition Grant - money ring-fenced for cycling and active travel improvements. CityConnect aims to: Make cycling a natural and popular choice for short journeys Make cycling accessible to everyone Improve access to employment, skills and education Reduce CO2 and improve local air quality Create a safe environment for walking and cycling To achieve this both infrastructure and activity based projects are taking place across Leeds, York, Bradford, Wakefield and Huddersfield Centres and along the region's canal towpaths, which provide key connections between local towns. We're working with businesses, schools and communities to make active travel the easiest and most attractive option for getting around and to realise the vision of 'more people cycling and walking more often.
