About Cara
We are a group of volunteers who have been rescuing independently or as members of other area rescue organizations. With the increase rate of population growth Ascension Parish is experiencing, the communities' homeless pet population is also growing, creating a need for rescue services. Based on the strong support system in the rescue community, we decided to start our own group, based here in Ascension Parish. In 2013, we successfully placed 235 dogs and 159 cats in forever homes. C.A.R.A. has no paid staff and is powered entirely by dedicated volunteers. We rescue animals in need from area shelters and communities. We do not have a shelter or a physical location and rely solely on fosters to help care for the animals prior to adoption. Private donations, our own fundraising efforts, and minimal adoption fees support our organization. All donations and funds received go directly toward saving animals.Explore more
