Awish

Through the REACH I initiative, developed in partnership with the State of Washington Department of Commerce and the Washington State Community Action Partnership across two federally funded three-year cycles, Awish successfully established a rate-based electricity and gas energy subsidy program serving low-income households across eleven counties in Puget Sound Energy's service area, generating over 100 million dollars in cumulative benefits to date with current annual funding at 15 million dollars. The REACH II program demonstrated Awish's ability to design and implement community-based renewable energy models, resulting in the development of a 13-megawatt wind turbine project by Coastal Community Action Agency that is projected to generate approximately one million dollars annually in value over a 25-year operational lifespan, directly supporting poverty remediation efforts and providing energy assistance to vulnerable populations. Beyond direct program implementation, Awish founded and established the International Association of Sustainability Businesses and Organizations (IASBO) around 1997, a highly successful networking initiative that convened twice annually throughout the Pacific Northwest and Western Canada to bring together sustainability leaders from the private sector, public agencies, non-governmental organizations, and universities in retreat settings designed to facilitate knowledge sharing and relationship building. The organization's track record demonstrates significant expertise in designing scalable energy assistance programs, securing federal funding, building multi-sector partnerships, and creating sustainable ...Read More
