Since 1972 Augustea has been engaged in the offshore towing business, served by Augustea Spa and Augustea Anchor Marine Transportation Ltd, the largest UK operator of deep sea barges that became part of the Group in 2004. Benefiting from the know-how cumulated over many years, the Group has increasingly moved from a "stand alone" service to a joint... supply of barges and tugs, thus optimizing and making explicit the strategical and operational synergies through an integrated approach to the offshore activities. Today the business is carried by Augustea Ship Management Srl (ASM). Headquartered in Augusta, ASM is the Group's main entity active in the deep-sea tug market. With more than 50 years tradition of deep sea towage and salvage, it is day by day getting bigger in the offshore markets. Currently the fleet consists of 4 deep sea tugs providing support to the offshore industry and long haul towage, 3 terminal tugs committed to assist oil & gas offshore fields and 1 small tug for short range transports in the Mediterranean Sea, with an aggregate power capacity of 40k KW. Augustea Maritime Transportation Ltd (AMTL), headquartered in Malta since 2011, is an oceangoing barges' owner whose fleet aggregates a total capacity of 146k DWT and comprises 8 units, four of which are submersible to transport float on/float off cargoes such as drilling rigs, dredgers, and floating docks.
