Almoiz Industries Limited makes an annual investment of 300 million rupees on its research and development. Our mill farms are primarily located in D.I. Khan and a few in Layyah and Sargodha. Our research and development activities are conducted at Bhakkar, Sargodha, Layyah and D.I. Khan as all four of these areas have different soils and environme... nt. Since the last two years, we have been arranging extensive soil testing and will repeat the exercise every year as for sugar beet loamy and sandy loam soils are preferred. Most of our seed is imported from the German company KWS, which is currently not only the best beet developer but are efficient in cooperation and their after-sale services. KWS extends production technology, arranges trainings, explores new markets to make every possible new implements and technology available for the rapid growth of various project. In addition to seeds, they extend training facilities for complete crop management, usage of agricultural implements such as beet planters, hoeing machines and high efficiency sprinkler irrigation systems. After having tested a variety of seeds, we are now employing three beet varieties: California-KWS, Sandrina-KWS, Ernestina-KWS as our research showed that these seeds attain the highest sugar yield, sugar contents and beet root yield. We are employing new mechanization techniques and methods as well. We have adopted ridge and semi ridge sowing with pneumatic planters, which are also in line with the current trend of flat sowing followed by mechanical weeding with exclusively designed hoeing machines and harvesting with harvesters, which is developing very year.
