AIM Trust was established in 1998 with the aim to ensure and uphold the rights of children in difficult circumstances. AIM trust has been involved in the advocacy for child and human rights at not just local, but also international levels. The organization has been an active participant in discovering and putting a stop to several incidents of human right violations, including several specific incidents of child abuse. AIM Trust recently responded to the alarming rates of suicides among adolescent children in Chennai city slums. The organization formed "SAMUGA SIRPI KALAI KUZHU" in 2000 among the youth, a program to discover and provide a sense of Indian culture and peer counseling through connections to other youths, music, and street theater. This helped to curtail the suicidal tendencies of the youth in the Chennai city slums. AIM Trust has also established a number of other programs in the Chennai City Slums to improve the environment and conditions for the people living there.
