What does Wpsu do?

WPSU is a nonprofit public media organization operated by The Pennsylvania State University through Penn State Outreach. The organization provides public television broadcasting, public radio services, journalism, educational programming, digital content, community engagement initiatives, and multimedia storytelling throughout Central Pennsylvania.... As a member station of both the Public Broadcasting Service and National Public Radio networks, WPSU serves as one of the primary public media providers for a large geographic region that includes rural and underserved communities across Pennsylvania. Its mission focuses on enriching learning, supporting civic engagement, expanding access to information, and strengthening community connections through trusted public media services. The origins of WPSU date back to the early nineteen fifties when Penn State established educational radio broadcasting operations to provide both community service and hands-on learning opportunities for students interested in communications and broadcasting careers. Radio operations began under the call sign WDFM before eventually evolving into WPSU-FM. During subsequent decades, the organization expanded its role from student-oriented broadcasting into a full public media institution serving broader regional audiences through educational programming, cultural content, public affairs coverage, and news services.Read More
